Professional Paver Sealing in St. Johns, FL
Your paver driveway, patio, pool deck, and walkways are one of the largest investments on your property. Florida’s intense UV rays, heavy rain, humidity, and organic growth gradually fade pavers, wash away joint sand, and leave surfaces looking dull and worn. Professional paver sealing restores rich color while helping protect against stains, reduces fading, weed growth, and everyday wear.
At The Pressure Kru, Inc., we specialize in professional paver cleaning and sealing throughout St. Johns, Jacksonville, Northern St. Austine, and surrounding communities. Every project begins with a complete inspection to determine whether your pavers are a good candidate for sealing and to recommend the best sealer for your specific surface.
What Does Paver Sealing Do?
Professional paver sealing helps:
- Restore faded color
- Enhance curb appeal
- Reduce staining
- Slow UV fading
- Stabilize joint sand
- Help discourage weed growth
- Make routine cleaning easier
- Extend the appearance of your pavers
Proper cleaning and surface preparation are essential before any sealer is applied to maximize durability and appearance.
After years of dealing with my own personal question of how to best seal pavers the right way (especially in Florida), my best recommendations are to always spray apply rather than roll apply. Use water based sealers rather than solvent-based sealers. Use urethane sealers rather than acrylic sealers. Most importantly get your pavers sealed by a professional.
What happens to pavers if you don’t seal them? The combination of stains, fading, weed growth, and water damage that unsealed pavers are exposed to can and will deteriorate the pavers much faster had they been sealed. This means you may have to replace or repair your patio sooner than expected, leading to additional expenses and effort.
What is the main benefit of having my pavers sealed? (Assuming your pavers adequately drain)
There are many reasons to get your pavers professionally sealed. Everyone has their own opinions on what they feel is the best reason to getting their paver sealed. If I had to pick what I felt was the best benefit of pavers sealing it would be that they will not get as dirty as unsealed pavers. More specifically mold and algae growth across the face of the paver becomes significantly improved. Paver driveway, patios, and pool decks that have been sealed at least twice over a 5 to 7 year period statistically exhibit less algae and/or mold growth across the surface (field) of the paver. The paver joints can still get nasty, but the field of the paver always will undoubtedly show less organic growth.
Why Homeowners Seal Their Pavers
Unlike concrete, pavers contain thousands of tiny pores that absorb moisture, dirt, oil, rust, algae, and organic staining. Without protection, Florida weather slowly deteriorates the appearance of your hardscape.
Professional sealing creates a protective barrier that helps reduce moisture absorption while enriching the natural color of your pavers.
Our Professional Paver Sealing Process
Step 1 — Professional Cleaning
Shortly upon arrival we pre-treat your paver surfaces for:
- Mold
- Mildew
- Algae
- Black staining
- Dirt buildup
- Organic growth
Step 2 — Complete Paver Inspection: After your pavers have been deep cleaned we inspect for:
- Existing sealer condition
- Surface damage
- Oil stains
- Rust stains
- Efflorescence
- Drainage
- Loose pavers
- Missing joint sand
- Paint out any paver additions from a different dye lot. Sealing paver additions 100% of the time will not magically blend into older pavers making a uniform appearance.
Step 3 — Sanding
We will use a combination of wet and dry sanding techniques to ensure your paver joints can achieve proper stabilization once the sealer gets applied.
Step 3 — Drying Time
We allow pavers to dry overnight before sealing to help ensure proper adhesion and reduce the risk of moisture becoming trapped beneath the coating. A light rain before your scheduled sealing application is a common occurrence and nothing to worry about.
Step 4 — Touch up Sanding and Protection
If necessary, we touch up sand joints that may of been missed the day prior or in some cases were still under water due to your sites poor drainage. We mask or remove items items you don’t want sealer on like drain covers, water features, laminar jets, etc…
Step 5 — Premium Sealer Application
We spray apply two coats of water based sealer via an HVLP battery operated pump sprayer
Step 6 — Flag or tape off freshly sealed surfaces to prevent vehicular traffic while the sealer cures.

Can Oil Stains Be Removed?
Oil stains are among the most difficult stains to eliminate completely because oil penetrates deep into porous pavers. While professional cleaning can significantly improve many stains, complete removal is not always possible. In many cases, our enhancing sealer helps blend remaining discoloration with the surrounding pavers, making stains much less noticeable.
How Long Does Paver Sealing Last?
Most professionally sealed pavers remain attractive for approximately 2–4 years, depending on:
- Sun exposure
